Howard Young Medical Center volunteers are a vital part of our community based hospital. In addition to providing many hours of direct and indirect patient care, the dedicated volunteers raise money each year for the programs and services of the hospital as well as the volunteer operated Lifeline Program. Monies are raised through hospital gift shop and several events throughout the year.
Additional volunteers are always welcome. If you would like to become a member of the hospital Auxiliary, please call 715.479.0230 or pick up an application at the hospital’s front desk.
Hospital Elder Life Program
The Hospital Elder Life Program (HELP) is a comprehensive model of care for hospitalized patients that are over 70 years old and assessed as being at risk for hospital complications, such as delirium and functional decline. By using a multiple component approach via a multi-disciplinary team of providers, nurses, rehabilitation therapists, dieticians, chaplains, and specially trained volunteers, risk factors will be identified, resulting in improved patient care, positive outcomes and significant cost avoidance.
Volunteer opportunities include socializing with patients, providing companionship, assisting with daily walks, helping during meals, and interactive activities. Training is provided.
Additional volunteers are always welcome. If you would like more information on HELP, please call 715-356-8305.
